OwenersCalvin and Cheryl Westra met in High School in 1974 and were married in November of 1975.

Cal & Cheryl have three children; Heather (24) married to Martin Dayton who has two children, Catie (5) and Warren (9 months). Carrie (21) who is attending Las Vegas University in Nevada majoring in Business Management with a minor in Accounting. She also works as sales manager at Cache` clothing store on the strip. Amy (18) graduated from Ontario Christian High School this past June and is now attending Cal Baptist University in Riverside California. Amy also works at Talbot Insurance in Riverside.

Cal & Cheryl recently sold their dairy herd of 1500 milking cows in Ontario, California. The family dairy operation was started by Cal's father in Orange County in the 1940's and then relocated to Ontario, California in 1969. It was there that Cal & Cheryl began their family and raised their children in the rural atmosphere of the diary community and church.

Cal & Cheryl were also very active in Church on the Hill in Norco, California. Cal served as deacon and treasurer while Cheryl served as a leader in children's ministries.

Cheryl has been the keeper of the household while finding time to volunteer at Ontario Christian School. She was instrumental in bringing the Scrip program, (fund raising program), to a level so that the Mothers Club could purchase a computer lab for the middle school.

Cal's mentor and father showed him that, by listening to the community and caring for those in need, you could serve others as well as maintain the positive atmosphere within his household.

Cal has also served on several public committees. San Jacinto Annexation #66 brought 6500 acres of undeveloped farmland into the city and APIC, City of Ontario's annexation of 8500 acres of planned community. He has also just completed six years as a board member on the California Milk Advisory Board (CMAB). The CMAB works as an advisory board to the Department of Food and Agriculture in the State of California. For the past several years, the board has capitalized on its ever so popular It's the cheese? campaign.

It was just two years ago that the Westra's decided that if opportunity presented itself, they would consider purchasing the Dorado Inn if the sale of the dairy site came into completion. After 28 months of escrow, and 18, off and on, again extension checks to the escrow, the dairy site was sold to a developer and is now being converted to residential homes.

Over the past several years, the Westra's have made themselves well known with the Chamber of Commerce and have met with Pastor Todd from the Lake Almanor Community Church. It became apparent that, with a great deal of investigation, this was the move that was intended for them.

It is the Westra's dream to continue the pristine atmosphere that Dorado Inn has enjoyed over the past years, with little change. When asked, That's the first thing you will change? Cheryl's response is why mess with perfection. Neil has created a family atmosphere here It's like coming home with your whole family every year and we hope to continue that.?

While the Westra's are new to the area, they are looking forward to meeting new friends and allowing the Dorado Inn to become the place that many families create lasting memories of good times and fun in the years to come.

Calvin and Cheryl are a very friendly couple and would enjoy your company at their resort.
